EV Fire Safety Bundle - Home / Warehouse
EV Fire Safety Bundle - Home / Warehouse
Lithium-ion battery fires behave differently to conventional fires, they ignite fast, burn hotter, and can reignite hours after appearing extinguished. This bundle gives homes, workshops, and warehouses with EV charging or battery storage the core layer of protection recommended for lithium-ion fire risk: suppression, containment, signage, and respiratory protection in one kit.
What's included:
- EV Fire Extinguisher (9L) — purpose-built for EV and home charging station lithium-ion battery fires
- EV Fire Blanket — rated for lithium-ion battery fires, for smothering and containing thermal runaway
- Fire Blanket Location Sign — compliant signage so the blanket is easy to locate in an emergency
- 225 x 150mm Fire Extinguisher Sign — clear extinguisher location signage
- Sundström SR 200 Full Face Respirator Kit (ABEK1 + P3) — protects against the toxic gases and particulates released during lithium-ion battery fires
Why it matters:
Lithium-ion battery fires release hydrogen fluoride and other toxic gases as part of thermal runaway, general-purpose extinguishers and dust masks aren't rated for this. This bundle pairs a lithium-ion-rated extinguisher and fire blanket with proper respiratory protection and signage, so the right equipment is on hand and easy to find if an EV, e-bike, or battery storage fire starts.
Ideal for: homes with EV charging, private garages, small workshops, and warehouses storing or charging lithium-ion batteries.

Product features
Electric vehicles and home battery storage have changed the fire risk profile of Australian homes and workplaces. Lithium-ion battery fires ignite through thermal runaway — a rapid, self-sustaining chemical reaction that can reach temperatures of 600°C+ within seconds, release toxic and flammable gases, and reignite hours or even days after the fire appears to be out. Conventional fire safety equipment isn't designed for this.
The EV Fire Safety Bundle brings together five purpose-selected products to give homes, garages, workshops, and warehouses a complete first-response layer for lithium-ion battery fire risk:
Suppression and containment. The 9L EV fire extinguisher is formulated for lithium-ion battery fires involving EVs and home charging equipment, while the fire blanket is rated to smother and contain a battery fire and starve it of oxygen — a critical second line of defence given how easily lithium-ion fires reignite.
Location and compliance signage. Both the fire extinguisher and fire blanket are matched with dedicated location signage, so equipment is quick to find under pressure and the site meets standard fire equipment signage expectations.
Respiratory protection. Lithium-ion battery fires release hydrogen fluoride and other toxic combustion gases well before flames are visible. The Sundström SR 200 full-face respirator, fitted with combined ABEK1 + P3 cartridges, protects against organic and inorganic gases, acid gases, ammonia, and particulates — protection a standard smoke mask does not provide.
Together, this bundle is built for anyone charging or storing lithium-ion batteries at scale: EV owners with home charging bays, tradies and small workshops, strata and body corporate common areas, and warehouses storing e-bikes, e-scooters, or battery stock.

FAQs
General Questions
Why do I need specialised equipment for EV fires?
Lithium-ion battery fires are fundamentally different from conventional fires. They burn at extreme temperatures (up to 1600°C), can reignite hours after suppression, and release toxic gases. Traditional fire extinguishers and blankets aren't designed for these conditions and may be ineffective or even dangerous to use.
Will regular fire extinguishers work on EV fires?
Standard ABC or CO2 extinguishers are not formulated for lithium-ion battery fires. They may temporarily suppress flames but won't address thermal runaway or prevent reignition. Our specialized extinguisher is specifically designed to cool batteries and interrupt the thermal runaway process.
How likely is my EV to catch fire?
EV fires are statistically rare—studies show EVs have fewer fires per vehicle than petrol cars. However, when they do occur, they're more severe and harder to control. Having proper safety equipment is about being prepared for the worst-case scenario.
Product-Specific Questions
Usage & Deployment
How do I use the fire extinguisher?
Follow the PASS method: Pull the pin, Aim at the base of the fire (or battery area), Squeeze the handle, Sweep from side to side. For EV fires, focus on cooling the battery pack area.
How quickly can I deploy the blanket?
With practice, deployment takes 60-90 seconds. We recommend familiarizing yourself with the deployment process when you receive it (without exposing it to fire). In an emergency, two people can deploy it faster and more safely.
Should I call emergency services even if I have this equipment?
Absolutely YES. Always call 000 immediately when an EV fire occurs. This equipment is designed to contain and control the fire until emergency services arrive, not replace professional firefighters.
Can I put out an EV fire by myself?
Only attempt to fight small fires in the early stages, and only if it's safe to do so. If the fire is large, spreading rapidly, or you're uncertain, evacuate immediately and wait for emergency services. Your safety comes first.
Maintenance & Storage
How do I maintain the extinguisher?
Conduct monthly visual inspections: check the pressure gauge is in the green zone, ensure the pin and seal are intact, and look for any physical damage. Professional servicing may be required—check with local fire equipment service providers.
Where should I store this equipment?
Store the extinguisher in an easily accessible location near your vehicle or charging station—wall-mounted brackets work well. Keep the blanket in its storage bag nearby, either wall-mounted or in a clearly labeled cabinet.
Do these products expire?
The extinguisher should be inspected annually and may need servicing every 5 years depending on the manufacturer's specifications. The blanket has no expiration date but should be inspected regularly for damage.
Can I store these in my garage where temperatures vary?
Yes, both products are designed for garage storage and can withstand normal temperature variations. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme moisture or direct chemical contact.
Commercial & Insurance Questions
Will this help with insurance compliance?
Many insurers are beginning to require EV-specific fire safety equipment for commercial facilities and fleets. Contact your insurance provider to discuss how this equipment may impact your premiums or compliance requirements.
Is this suitable for commercial EV service centers?
Absolutely. This bundle is ideal for workshops, service centers, dealerships, and fleet facilities. You may need multiple sets depending on the size of your operation.
Do I need training to use this equipment?
While the equipment is designed for intuitive use, we strongly recommend fire safety training for commercial applications. Contact your local fire brigade for information about EV fire safety courses.
