Complete your fire response kit with the Sundström SR 200 Full Face Respirator, a Swedish-engineered, ready-to-use respiratory protection kit built for the toxic gases, particulates, and thick smoke released during lithium-ion battery thermal runaway events. When an EV or e-bike battery fire ignites, it doesn't just burn, it off-gases hydrogen fluoride and other hazardous compounds. This kit gives responders the respiratory protection to act safely rather than from a distance.

Why Pair This With Your EV Fire Response Kit?

Fire extinguishers and suppression blankets contain the fire, this respirator protects the person deploying them. Anyone responding to a battery fire, whether at home, in a fleet depot, or at a commercial charging site, is exposed to toxic combustion gases well before flames are visible. The SR 200 kit means you're not choosing between acting fast and breathing safely.

Ideal for: EV owners, fleet managers, strata and body corporate emergency kits, workshops, service centres, and anyone storing a lithium-ion battery fire response kit on site.

Always call 000 immediately in the event of a fire. This equipment is designed to protect responders while containing a fire until emergency services arrive, it does not replace professional firefighting.

Product features

Ensure safety and peace of mind with the Sundström SR 200 Full Face Respirator Kit, engineered to protect against the toxic gases and particulates released during lithium-ion battery thermal runaway. As EV and e-bike adoption grows, so does the need for proper respiratory protection when responding to a battery fire, not just suppression equipment. The SR 200 combines a Swedish-engineered silicone full face mask with ABEK1 (gas/vapour) and P3 (particulate) filters, giving responders the airway and eye protection needed to act safely rather than from a distance. Supplied as a ready-to-use kit with cloth harness, it's built for immediate deployment alongside your extinguisher or fire blanket.

Product FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need a respirator for a battery fire?
A lithium-ion battery in thermal runaway off-gases hydrogen fluoride and other toxic compounds, often before any flame is visible. A standard dust mask or smoke mask does not protect against those gases. The SR 200 with ABEK1 + P3 filters protects your airway and eyes so you can respond to a fire safely rather than from a distance, or evacuate through smoke more safely.
What do the ABEK1 and P3 filters protect against?
The kit pairs an SR 297 ABEK1 filter (organic, inorganic and acid gases plus ammonia) with an SR 510 P3 filter (fine particulates). Together they cover the main gas and particulate hazards released during a battery fire. It is a filtering respirator, so it relies on the surrounding air containing enough oxygen; it is not for oxygen-deficient or unknown atmospheres, and it is not a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Does it meet Australian standards?
Yes. The kit is certified to AS/NZS 1716:2012, the Australian and New Zealand standard for respiratory protective devices, and the mask is also tested to EN 136:1998.
Will it fit me, and do I need to fit-test it?
The SR 200 is a one-size-fits-most silicone full-face mask with a spherical polycarbonate visor. For a respirator to protect you it must seal to your face, so we recommend a proper fit check before you rely on it, and fit testing for any workplace or commercial use. Facial hair along the seal line will stop it sealing correctly.
What's included in the kit?
The SR 200 full-face mask (silicone body, scratch-resistant polycarbonate visor, three inhalation and two exhalation valves for low breathing resistance), one ABEK1 gas/vapour filter, one P3 particulate filter, and a cloth harness. The mask weighs about 450 g on its own.
How do I store it and look after the filters?
Keep the mask clean, dry and sealed so it's ready when you need it, and store it away from direct heat and chemicals. Filters have a service life: replace them per Sundstrom's guidance, after any exposure, and once opened past their stated use period. Always check the mask, valves and visor before use.
Who is this for?
Anyone who keeps a lithium-ion fire response kit on site and may need to act near a failing battery: EV and e-bike owners, fleet managers, strata and body corporate emergency kits, workshops, service centres and charging sites. It's designed to be stored alongside your extinguisher, blanket or containment bag.
Does this replace calling the fire brigade?
No. It protects the person responding; it does not put out the fire or replace professional firefighters. Only ever tackle a small fire in its early stages, and only if it's safe to do so. In any fire, get clear and call 000.
