Frequently asked questions
Is this bag fireproof?
No, and the distinction matters. This is a fire-resistant containment bag, not a fireproof one. It's made from silicone-coated fibreglass that resists high heat (rated to 1100 degrees C instantaneous, 550 degrees C sustained) and helps contain and slow a thermal runaway event, limiting how far a device fire spreads. What it does is buy you time and reduce the chance of a small failure becoming a larger fire. What it can't do is guarantee it will fully stop or extinguish a fire. In any fire, evacuate and call 000.
What can this bag fit?
The 40 x 28 cm size suits laptops (up to around 15 to 16 inches), tablets, power banks and portable chargers, smaller power-tool battery packs, camera and drone batteries, and phones during charging. Measure your device first, it should sit inside comfortably with the zip closing freely.
How is this different from the larger bag?
This is the slim, flat version built for devices and compact battery packs. For larger e-bike, e-scooter and machinery batteries, choose our larger containment bags, which offer more internal volume.
Can I put a damaged, swollen or recalled battery in it?
Yes, that's one of the best uses for it. Damaged, swollen or recalled batteries carry a much higher risk of thermal runaway, so isolating them away from combustible materials is sensible. If you notice swelling, heat, odour or leaking, move the device into the bag and arrange safe disposal. If a battery is already hot, smoking, hissing or leaking, treat it as an emergency: if you can do so safely, get it outside and away from people and buildings, then evacuate and call 000.
Will it completely stop a battery fire?
No. No containment product can promise that, and any that claims to should be treated with caution. The bag is designed to resist heat and to contain and slow a thermal runaway event so it's less likely to spread to the area around it, which significantly reduces the risk of a larger fire and buys time. It is one layer of defence, not a guarantee. Always follow battery safety best practice, and in the event of a fire, evacuate and call 000.
Can I reuse it after a device has failed inside it?
Treat it as single-use protection after any real thermal event. If the bag has contained a fire or shows charring, melting, holes or other damage, replace it, don't rely on it a second time. For everyday storage and transport of healthy devices and batteries, you can reuse it normally; just inspect it from time to time and check the zip and seams are intact.
How do I store and look after it?
Keep it in an accessible spot away from ignition sources and direct heat, and keep it clean and dry. Don't use it as your only fire protection, it works alongside smoke alarms and safe charging habits. Check the zip and seams periodically so it's ready when you need it.
What about warranty, shipping and returns?
The bag carries a 12-month warranty. Shipping is calculated at checkout by location, and is free Australia wide on orders over $500. As safety equipment, returns are subject to our standard return policy, contact us if you have any questions.
